I remember growing up with a few key "rules" as a child....
1.Always look both ways before crossing the street
2. Don't go swimming until at least 30 minutes after you eat
and the biggest and most important one of them all..
3. DO NOT wear white after labor day
As I have grown and developed my street and fashion sense, I now say "FONGUL" to those rules (at least the fashion ones- you should always look both ways before crossing the street). Especially during these tough times, it is critical that we make the most out of our wardrobes and stop the limitations we put on our clothing because of what our "bubbes" or "grandmas " touted 125 years ago.
Here are a couple of fun tricks to break those rules and extend the lifespan of your threads.
*All of the fabulous sun dresses that you tuck away until it hits the mid 80's can come out now! Free them from storage and just layer them up. Throw a cardigan or cute jacket over them or a long sleeve shirt under them and some tights for warmth and BAM! you have a cute new look without spending a dime. Take a look at:

*You know that you are so sick of that black heavy pocketbook you have been carrying all winter long. Just because the groundhog says we have 10 weeks until spring, doesn't mean that your spring bags have to be in hiding! Take out your brightest, whitest and happiest spring/summer bags and wear it with pride. Change is needed and it’s time to break the barriers and mix it up! Take a look at:

*Infuse some color! Why is it that we only wear color when its over 70 degrees? Here's a little Mindyism, I believe color can actually lift your spirits and its better for you than booze! So as we muddle through this recession, through a bright pink tank under your blazer or an orange scarf around your neck. Brighten and freshen all year long...don't just save it for the summer.
